The sanctuary of Santa Rosalia is a shrine in Palermo built around the 17th century on the basis of earlier religious buildings in honor of the city's new patron saint. The site of the shrine is now a destination for religious and nature tourism in the city of Palermo, as a few steps away is a lookout with a unique panorama of the city.
Inside the shrine there is also a museum part, opened in 2018, and called the treasure rooms, where historical, artistic and religious objects are collected.
The shrine rises 429 meters above sea level on Mount Pellegrino, and is accessed via a long flight of steps.
