Chiesa della Madonna del Carmine, Turin
Facts and practical information
The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Catholic place of worship located in the central area of Turin, on Via del Carmine corner of Via Bligny. Designed by Filippo Juvarra, it was built between 1732 and 1736.
On the night of August 8, 1943, a bombing created very serious damage to the building: it opened a chasm between the second and third chapels and also destroyed the wooden choir. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Monuments, with the help of photographic evidence, the church was fully restored and reopened for worship on October 19, 1955.
