Cima Nera, Stelvio National Park
Facts and practical information
Cima Nera is a mountain in the Ortles-Cevedale Group in the southern Rhaetian Alps. It is the only peak in Val de la Mare together with Lagolungo peak to be located completely in Trentino. In the past, during World War I, the peak was used as a military observatory on the innermost part of the Val di Peio, and there are still remnants testifying to this fact. Currently, the peak is little visited despite the fact that it offers an excellent scenic spectacle and is significantly easier to reach than the snow-capped peaks that surround it.
