San Pietro Church, Radicofani
Facts and practical information
The church of San Pietro is a sacred building located in Radicofani.
The earliest record of the church dates back to 1224. In 1578 it assumed the title of pieve. Although subject to many interventions, it still shows Romanesque features and has a single nave with a wooden truss roof. The end part is wider and has a basilical scheme. The facade has simple forms, with a recessed portal and, above this, a mullioned window, a work of restoration. The bell tower is modern.
Works include several glazed terracotta dossals of the Della Robbia school: an Annunciation, two Madonnas with Child and Saints from the workshop of Andrea della Robbia, and a Crucifixion with Magdalene attributed to Benedict and Santi Buglioni: and a Madonna and Child, a polychrome wooden statue attributed to Francesco di Valdambrino.
