Church of the Holy Cross, Luras
Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Croce is a religious building located in Luras, a town in northeastern Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is part of the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, diocese of Tempio-Ampurias. The church, overlooking the parish church, is home to the confraternity of the same name, which takes care of Holy Week celebrations. Built in 1677 with exposed granite ashlars, it underwent renovations in the second half of the 20th century that reduced its length and set back the facade. Inside, a stoup, donated by then prior Antonio di Feno, shows the year it was built. For the Christmas holidays an atmospheric living nativity scene in traditional costume is staged there.
