Facts and practical information
The Church of Purgatory is a religious building located in Luras, a town in northeastern Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is part of the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, diocese of Tempio-Ampurias.
Built at the end of the 18th century, it presents a façade of exposed granite ashlars, with a gabled roof and embellished by a small ribbed bell tower, the result of a complete renovation carried out during 1854. The single-nave hall is divided into two bays by a round arch and is covered by a pitched roof of wooden rafters. At the back, the quadrangular, barrel-vaulted chancel holds Our Lady of Mount Carmel with Saints Roch and Sebastian, a painting dating from the mid-18th century.
