San Biagio, Cantagallo
Facts and practical information
The church of San Biagio is located in the municipality of Cantagallo, in the province of Prato.
Documented from 1224, the church was under the patronage of the Vaiano Abbey, and played an important role in the small mountain community in the Middle Ages as a place of faith, but also as the seat of the town's assemblies.
The interior has a single hall with a trussed ceiling; behind the high altar is an interesting early 17th-century painting of late Mannerist culture, inspired by Butteri.
Adjacent to the church, the Oratory of the Company preserves a modest early 17th-century painting, venerated under the title of Madonna of the Snow, from the ambit of Alessio Gimignani.
