Church of Santa Caterina, Mores
Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Caterina is a religious building located in Mores, a town in northwestern Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is the seat of the parish of the same name and is part of the archdiocese of Sassari.
The first plant of the church, built around the 15th century, was demolished to make room for the new factory built, thanks to the Manca family of nobles, between 1630 and 1670. Prominent at its side is the majestic bell tower, erected two centuries later and considered, at 46 meters, the tallest in Sardinia. It was built in neoclassical forms designed by Moorish architect Salvatore Calvia, a pupil of the great Alessandro Antonelli.
