The former church of Sancta Maria ad Templum is located in the hamlet of Villa Fontane in the municipality of Valentano.

According to some records of the trial of the Templars in the patrimony of St. Peter in Tuscia, several summonses were posted at the door of this church during the pre-trial phase. When the order was suppressed in 1312, the church passed, like the other temple properties, to the Knights Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem.

The former church, now private property, is in a dilapidated state and has been used as a warehouse. In it was found a 15th-century fresco attributed to the Umbro-Senese school, which was detached in 1987 and relocated to the civic library of the municipality of Valentano.
