Facts and practical information
The Friniates were an ancient Eastern Ligurian people who lived in Northern Italy in the Apennines area between the provinces of Reggio di Lombardia and Modena. With the Roman conquest of Northern Italy, they were reduced to subjection by C. Flaminius in 187 BCE. A portion of the land of the Friniates makes up the current historical ethno-cultural region known as Frignân in the local Gallo-Italic language. ()
