Germeringer See, Germering
Facts and practical information
Lake Germering is an artificial lake on the territory of the town of Germering in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck in Upper Bavaria, Germany. The lake is located at the foot of the Parsberg mountain in the immediate vicinity of Parsberg Castle. In 1971 it was created as a bathing lake and in 1976 it was developed into a recreational area. The water body is 2.5 hectares in size and 6 meters deep. Natural springs at the bottom of the lake feed the lake with water, it has no inlet. On the southeastern shore there is a small reed belt, which serves to keep the water clean, on its northwestern shore there are two wetlands, which are designated as biotopes.
The lake is classified as an EU bathing water and is part of a recreational area of the city of Germering, which has a total area of about 10.5 hectares, including 3 hectares of tree-lined sunbathing lawns. There is a water guard, a kiosk and recreational facilities for basketball, soccer and beach volleyball as well as a playground and a barbecue area.
In 2009, some of the trout used died of the fish disease VHS, a disease that is not dangerous for humans. As a result, on the recommendation of the veterinary office, the lake was fished out and no new fish were released that year.
