Chiesa di Nostra Signora della Pazienza
Facts and practical information
The church of Our Lady of Patience is located in Uri. The sacred building was built around the 16th century, although the bell tower, part of the facade and wall of the Chapel of the Holy Crucifix date from the 18th-19th centuries.
Prior to its present dedication, the church was simply dedicated to St. Mary, a title that in turn was transferred from a church not far from the present one, which now bears the name St. Cross, the seat of the Confraternity of the same name. This rare title given to the Virgin Mary is to be juxtaposed with the traditional image of the Pieta.
The parish currently bears the same name, but is housed in the new church named after St. Mary of Paulis built in 1995.
The church is a parish seat, formerly belonging to the archdiocese of Sassari but currently included in the diocese of Alghero-Bosa.
