Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Sofia is a parish church in San Vero Milis, in the province of Oristano.
It was erected in the 18th century on an earlier 13th-century Romanesque building, traces of which remain in some walls, in a mixture of styles and with use of materials of different colors. Work was prolonged from 1604, under Archbishop Antonio Canopolo of Oristano, to 1638, by the cabos mastos Agostino Careli, of Genoa, and Francesco Escanu, or Escano, of Cagliari, whose names are inscribed on the inscription beside the high altar.
The church is flanked by the tall eighteenth-century bell tower also with color play in the materials used and with an onion dome.
The 17th-century wooden statue of St. Sebastian is preserved inside.
