Chiesa parrocchiale Santa Maria Immacolata
Facts and practical information
The Church of Mary Immaculate is a place of worship located in Seneghe, on Luigi Zoccheddu Street. Built and consecrated to Catholic worship on June 24, 1893, it is the seat of the parish of the same name and is part of the diocese of Oristano. It is dedicated to Mary Immaculate as well as to Saint Sebastian, patron saint of the town.
Construction of the church, which took place with the contribution of workers from Seneghe, Cuglieri, Oristano and Santulussurgiu, began in the late 1700s and lasted for nearly a century. The church, of considerable size, was implanted on the site of a pre-existing church, itself built above a nuragic settlement.
