Corno alle Scale is a mountain in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, located in the territory of the municipality of Lizzano in Belvedere, with the northern slope and summit included entirely in the area of the metropolitan city of Bologna, of which it constitutes the highest altitude, and part of the southern slope included instead in the municipality of San Marcello Piteglio in the province of Pistoia. The name derives from the unique shape of the northern face, consisting of a series of stepped rocky crags.
Classified as a Site of Community Interest and Special Protection Area, itself part of the Corno alle Scale Regional Park, established in 1988. poems by Vico Faggi, a poet and playwright from Modena, Genoa by adoption, are dedicated to it, and it is home to an important ski resort in the northern Apennines.
