Facts and practical information

The Torre del Porto is the best-preserved coastal tower on Capraia Island in the Tuscan Archipelago. It is located on high ground east of the small harbor and in ancient times guarded the island from enemy raids by Corsairs.

The tower was built by the Genoese in 1516 and is the only tower on the island that has been restored, so today it is in excellent condition. With a circular base, it is shaped like a truncated cone, surmounted by a large circular gallery equipped with battlements.
