Chiesa di San Costantino
Facts and practical information
The church of San Costantino is a religious building located in Pozzomaggiore, a town in northwestern Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is part of the parish of San Giorgio, diocese of Alghero-Bosa.
Built in the early 20th century in neo-Romanesque/Byzantine Art Nouveau style, it is dedicated to Constantine the Great, a Roman emperor venerated as a saint locally in Sardinia, Tyrol, southern Italy and Tuscany and universally by the Orthodox Christian Church.
The building was erected as a result of a vow by veterans of World War I. Linked to it are the cult of St. Constantine and the ardia that is run during the festivals held annually on July 6-7 and August 31-September 1.
